Follow these steps to disable music syncing with i Tunes so that it does not interfere with any music synchronized with Media Monkey, and also to allow you to freely update pictures and/or video files.First, open i Tunes, making sure that your device is plugged in to your computer.Bring up the i Tunes preferences under Edit - Preferences, and go to the “Devices” tab.Check “Disable automatic syncing for all i Phones and i Pods”.This guide is intended to guide a user through syncing any Apple portable device including all i Pod versions including the i Pod touch, i Phone, i Pod shuffle, and i Pod nano.Following the steps below will allow you to sync your music from Media Monkey to your device while allowing you to continue to use i Tunes to sync your picture and video without interfering with any of your music files.Album art and lyrics will be synced correctly for all i Pod versions that support those features, and ratings as well as playcounts should be synced back to your MM database when Auto-synchronization is used.
Then, once fully charged, I hooked it up to a brand new machine, with a brand new copy of the latest i Tunes installed. Green – Orange – Green – Green for 2 seconds, which according to the little card which comes with the Shuffle means ‘No music on unit’ !! (Originally meaning – not Technorati’s ‘Where’s the Fire’ 🙂 ) OK.
IE: The shuffle still thinks it has only one track on it even though when it is plugged into i Tunes, it can clearly see all the mp3 files there on it. I also note that a recent firmware update on a Nano I have here (I have a Nano, a Video i Pod and a Shuffle for testing purposes – so I too can feel the pain. I have now left them to build a start up a new system called 'Phreadz', which is a 'Social Multimedia Conversation Network', integrating everything that is 'V.
The Shuffle is NOT detecting the ‘Podcast’ genre in the ID3 tags by the look of it. I left the BBC to become CTO / sole-lead architect/developer at for three years.
Alternatively you can right click and use the Send to - feature, though with “Send to” you risk not retaining your playcounts and ratings being synced back, as well as doubles showing on your i Pod.
i Tunes adds that fine, then sets about downloading the latest episode. Now I have the podcast episodes download I want, I drag the podcast feed to the Shuffle icon, when it then sets about storing the downloaded podcasts onto the Shuffle. When i Tunes tells me that it’s safe to disconnect the i Pod I do so, plug in my headphones to listen to my new fresh and lovely podcasts.
