CG Problem solved, right clicked on the DHCP server selected Properties. Background: I'm a volunteer, with experience of fixing quite a few client side problems (TH has been an excellent resource there! Now, in rural Africa, I've been put in charge of a network that was created by a service company. Network details: ~15 clients, 1 DC/server, 1 router. In these cases, you must manually switch the node type.
If the remote access server has no locally defined WINS servers, a b-node remote access client remains a b-node client.
If the remote access server has locally defined WINS servers, a b-node remote access client switches to h-node for the duration of the connection.
Windows 95 clients do not automatically switch between node types if the remote access server supplies WINS addresses.
Cheers Gregg WTOS clients will not create a DNS entry.
Two options: – Let the DHCP server do the registration for you – If you have WINS server running you can enable WINS registration on the clients and let WINS do the registration in DNS for you.
